Spice Up Your Life.

Frostings, do you ever feel like life is just too comfortable? Like things need a little bit of a shake up? That's the feelings I've been experiencing recently.
Here's a few ways to mix up your day to day life a little bit!

Sleep at the other end of the bed.
Buy yourself some really good chocolate.
Borrow a book from the library that you wouldn't normally read.
Create a vision board of things that inspire you.
Take a day off from the 21st century, no internet, phone or tv for a day!
Call that relative you've been meaning to catch up with.
Donate something to a charity of your choice.
Learn some fun phrases in another language.
Take a few minutes to count your blessings.
Take steps to conquer whatever fears you have.
Join a class; creative writing, dancing; jewellery making.. it's up to you.
Rearrange your space according to feng shui.
Change your hairstyle.
Buy yourself or someone you care about a bunch of flowers.
Visit a museum that relates to your interests.
Learn to be comfortable within your own company.

What are your suggestions for getting yourself out of a slump frostings? Let me know!

Lots of love..

Winter Wonderland.

Winter is most definately upon us here in England! It's really cold, it gets dark outside by five pm and you have to wear about ten layers of clothing before you venture out anywhere, and I love it!
So, frostings, what are your favourite ways to spend your time during winter?
Here are just a few of mine..

Curl up on the sofa and get stuck into a good novel while drinking camomile tea.

Learn some delicious new recipes; vegetable stew and dumplings.. homemade soup.. lasagne.. even if you can't cook, winter is the perfect time to learn!

Stay home and watch a compilation of your favourite films.

Go ice skating with your favourite person, don't forget to bundle up in gorgeous knitwear and mittens and scarves.

Come up with the perfect hot chocolate recipe. Devour it whenever and wherever you like.

Buy yourself a huge fluffly dressing gown and some gorgeous pyjamas to lounge around the house in.

Decorate your space with fairy lights and candles to appease the dark nights.

Hold an impromptu indoor tea party for you and your closest friends, the perfect way to spend an afternoon!

Take walks in the snow and take pictures of everything that inspires you along the way.

Have yourself a glorified bed day. Watch old films, read a trashy book, sleep.. whatever you like!

Lots of love..

How To Be Fabulously Fierce Part Two.

Last time, I talked about the commandments of being fabulously fierce, and now, here's fifteen ways to be fabulously fierce.
Enjoy!

1) Always say please and thankyou.
In the words of my mother 'manners cost nothing'. If you are impolite, it will give people a bad impression of you, and more than anything else, it's just rude. And no fiercely fabulous frosting would ever intentionally be rude, of course.

2) Commit random acts of kindness.
Not just every once in a while, but as often as you can. It doesn't have to be a huge deal. Buy a coffee for that homeless guy. Give compliments. Make someone a gift, just because.

3) Indulge in your guilty pleasures.
You love watching reruns of the hills and eating ben & jerrys? Well , do it then. You love to listen to the spice girls whilst dancing around your room? Go ahead, do it. A fabulously fierce lady knows better than to be ashamed of what people may think.

4) Take time to breathe.
Breathing is easy, you're doing it right now, see? But if you really pay attention to your breathing, count to ten, inhaling and exhaling, you'll feel better. Yoga is great for helping your breathing, and it will make such a positive difference to your life.

5) Follow your heart. Always.
Do I really need to say anymore? Trust your instincts.

6) Stand up for what you believe in.
To be fabulously fierce, you must always stand up for what you believe in. People will respect you for having your own opinion, and no fierce lady ever got anywhere by smiling meekly and nonchalantely agreeing with everything everyone says.

7) Take time to 'me time' to relax and recharge.
Turn off your phone, and do what you want to do every once in a while.

8) Wear what makes you feel good.
Think about how you feel when you wear certain outfits, wear clothes that make you feel gorgeous and irresistable. Don't be afraid to show the world how fabulous you are.

9) Be passionate about everything you do.
Because really, there's no point being any other way.

 10) Keep a diary of things that make you laugh.
It'll cheer you up when you're feeling sad, act as a reminder of good times and be great to look back on in the future.

11) Use affirmations.
So you're not the most confident person in the world? Fake it til you make it. Tell yourself every single day that you are a beautiful and confident person with so much to offer. Act like you're the most confident person in the room, even if you feel silly. It'll change your perspective in the long run.

12) Tell people just how fabulous you think they are.
Show your mum, your best friend, whoever, just how great they are, and how much you apreciate them, don't assume they just know.

13) Believe in yourself.
It's an old cliche, but if you don't believe in yourself, how can you expect anyone else to? Know that you are beautiful, unique and more than capable of handling anything that's thrown at you. Because you are.

14) Be kind to the planet.
Recycle, don't litter, take good care of it. It's the only one we have, you know. Um, for now anyways!

15) Live the life you want to live.
Every fabolously fierce lady knows the importance of this. It's your life, you're the one who has to deal with the consequences and experience it. Surround yourself with supportive people and do what makes you happy.

Lots of love..

Happiness.

Happiness. It's a funny old thing. Often people get so caught up in the monotamy of routine and daily life, they forget what happiness really means to them. I read a delightful thing earlier, about what happiness means, and it got me thinking.

So, this is what happiness means to me;

Spending time with loved ones; treasured memories; inside jokes; laughing until you cry; reading a good book; getting lots of writing done; long walks; snow days; sunny days; hot showers; receiving letters; listening to my favourite songs; spending forever browsing in bookshops; feeling like you really connect with someone; cuddles; hot chocolate with whipped cream; picnics in the summer; creating something; playing with my doggy; my google reader; getting butterflies in my tummy; magazines; pampering sessions; lazy days; waking up and realising you still have hours to sleep; cute text messages; affirmations; stationery shopping; pandas; making a positive difference in other peoples lives; holding hands; learning from those older and younger than me; falling in love; cupcakes.

What does happiness mean to you?
Tell me!

Lots of love..

December Goals.

Today marks the start of a new beginning.
My life has had plenty of twists and turns recently, and now is the time I'm going to change it. December will be a month of magic and excitement, but hard work too. In order for me to have the year I really want to have next year, I need to get the ball rolling and get things sorted out now!
So, my goals for December are as follows;

1) Find permenant employment.
Honestly, this is so important. It will take away so much stress, and I might even be able to relax again.

2) Commit to a daily routine.
Get out of bed, get pretty, eat a good breakfast, have a fifteen minute tidy, write my morning pages, then get on with my daily goals.

3) Write more.
I need to push myself with this, I need to believe in myself more. I need to work harder.

4) Improve my cooking ability.
Okay, I can put things in the oven and all, but making a meal from scratch isn't something I'm so accustomed to. Being a vegetarian in a house of non-vegetarians, I often have to make my own seperate meals, but I definately need to expand the variety of what I cook.

5) Spend my time more productively.
Read: don't watch so much mindless tv or spend hours on the internet. Read books, learn something new, take walks, see a friend.. all these things are much more productive.

That's all!
Hopefully if I can accomplish these things this month, that'll lead to a fantastic start to the new year and as I mentioned, enable me to have the year I really want.

So, what about you? What are your goals for this month?
Let me know!

Lots of love..

Product Love.

Here are my top five products that I love;

1) Batiste Dry Shampoo.

I adore this product. It works brilliantly, replenishes your hair inbetween washes and at just £1.99 you just can't go wrong. The difference it instantly makes is clear to see. I particularly love this tutorial on how to apply it for maximum results. In the UK it's available from Superdrug and Boots, as well as some supermarkets. I would definately recommend it.

2) Simple Hydrating Light Moisturiser.

I've tried many different moisturisers, but this is the one that works the best for me, by far. It moisturises without being too heavy and doesn't have an overpowering scent and doesn't irritate my skin. It costs just £3.50 and although I've tried more expensive brands, they didn't work as well as this. It's perfect!

3) Revlon Eyelash Curlers.

I am a huge advocator of eyelash curlers. They can really make a difference to your look, compliment your eye make up and they make you seem a million times more awake! Always heat them up with a hairdryer beforehand though, it makes such a difference, and as I read the other day, you wouldn't straighten your hair without heating up your straighteners first, would you?

4) Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner.

I confess, I am slightly obsessed with Aussie products. I use these conditioning treatments religiously once a week and can immediately feel the difference. They come in plentiful sachets with more than enough for one treatment and at just 99p, they're definately an affordable indulgence.

5) Vaseline Lip & Aloe Vera Therapy.

There are many products out there for chapped lips, but this will always be the winner. It is essential in winter, it fixes chapped lips, revitalises skin and is a definate all rounder. At 99p, you really can't go wrong.

So, those are my top five products my darlings.. what about you?

Lots of love..

Quote Of The Week

“Things are going so well. We’re volleying words back and forth. Everything she says, I have something I can say back.  We’re sparking, and part of me just wants to sit back and watch. We’re clicking. Not because a part of me is fitting into a part of her.
But because our words are clicking to form sentences and our sentences are clicking into each other to form dialogue and our dialogue is clicking together to form this scene from this ongoing movie that’s as comfortable as it is unrehearsed.”

15 November 2009

Weekly Goals.

Well, this week's gone very quickly! Hopefully next week will be more of the same!
Here's what I'm hoping to accomplish this week.

1) Get on top of all my writing.
Ah writing, such a lovely profession but it comes with such discipline and responsbility that I'm still getting my head around. This week is all about hard work, but it's worth it.

2) Get lots of sleep.
No going to bed at stupid o clock, no drinking coffee at midnight. Proper sleep, like a grown up. That is the plan.

3) Finish all the packing.
I'm in the process of moving house, and my goodness, I never realised quite how much 'stuff' I have acquired, I shall accomplish this though!

That's all for this week!
How about you? What are you hoping to achieve this week?

Let me know!
Lots of love..

How To Be Fabulously Fierce.

Fierce Frosting is all about being fabulously fierce.
Being fierce is about having an attitude, standing up for your beliefs, being independant, knowing what the hell is going on in the world and most importantly the art of knowing your own unique brilliance without arrogance.
Being fabulous is about having etiquette and manners, looking and feeling gorgeous, baking delicious cupcakes and always following your passions.

So, here are my six commandments to be fabulously fierce;

1) Thou shalt indulge in long pamper sessions regularly.
Every fierce frosting must look good, of course, and the pampering process is just as important.

Run yourself a hot bath, bubbles compulsary. Use a hair conditioning mask, a face mask, and relax. Give yourself a manicure. Curl up with your favourite book and have an early night every once in a while.. lush!

2) Thou shalt make a list of at least five good things that have happen each week.
You may have seen a similar thing on Gala Darling's blog, where people contribute a list of things that they love, each Thursday. It's a scientific fact that this helps you to be happier, and hey, I aren't arguing with science!

3) Thou shalt kit out the underwear drawer with gorgeous garments.
Even if you are wearing a drab work uniform or just aren't feeling particularly irresistable that day, knowing you have gorgeous undergarments on will make you feel fabulous, even if you're the only one who knows!

4) Thou shalt always take power naps.
Fifteen minutes will suffice, it will leave you feeling ready to face the world again and bursting with energy. As any fiercely fabulous lady will tell you, looking tired is not a good look, darling.

5) Thou shalt understand the importance of clearing out their space.
You may only have a tiny bedroom to call your own, but you can still make it your own and make it right for you.

If you're a writer, make sure it's kitted out with beautiful stationery and everything you need.
Get rid of unneccesary clutter, surround yourself with things that inspire you.

6) Thou shalt always stand up for their beliefs.
Fierce Frosting can not emphasis enough the importance of this, ladies. Whether they're religious, politicial, moral or whatever else.. always stand up for what you believe in. Fiercely fabulous women must be strong and not afraid to stand up for your passions.

That's  all for now my darlings, part two to be continued!

Lots of love..

I'm Back!

Hello!

First and foremost, I apologise for my long overdue absence. My life has resemled something of a soap opera lately, but all is fine and dandy again now and blogging shall resume as normal!

Things I'm Loving This Week;

1) Getting organised for 2010.
From inspiration books, to stationery shopping and setting goals, my inner geek is having a lovely time! Haha!

2) Autumn.
Hot mugs of tea, delicious hot meals, gorgeous winter coats and mittens, snuggling up to a good book in front of the fire.. perfect!

3) The Time Travellers Wife.
I bought this book on Saturday and have not been able to put it down! I've been taking it everywhere with me. I never got around to seeing the film, but will deffo be watching it as soon as I finish the book!

4) Christmas.
Yes, to all you scrooges out there, I know there are a few weeks to go, but I can't help being excited! I adore christmas shopping, the christmas songs, the movies we've all seen a thousand times and of course the food! I. can. not. wait.

5) My beautiful doggy.
He's gigantic, takes up a lot of space and likes to steal oranges from the fruit bowl and play football with them, but I wouldn't have him any other way. He's is amazing.

That's all for now my lovelies!
Regular posting shall resume and I have lots of news coming up in the next few weeks!

10 Things To Do With Your Best Friends.

1. Have a picnic.
All you need is some food and drink, a nice location such as a local park, a blanket and some music if you so prefer. I can definately vouch for this as one as my favourite things to do with my friends. If the weather isn't up to scratch, have an indoor picnic in your living room, you could even build a makeshift fort!

2. Go ice skating.
Whether you glide around the ice like a pro or fall on your butt a million times, it's sure to be a fun day out, and moderately inexpensive. Coupled with hot chocolates afterwards, providing the perfect opportuntity to warm up and have a gossip.

3. Go to a comedy show.
It makes a change to the normal night out, and everyone knows the old adage that laughter is the best medicine. Personally I think it's a far better way to spend the night rather than being held up in some dark nightclub void of conversation.

4. Do a bungee jump / other equally scary activity.
Although probably not the easiest nor least expensive thing on the list, it's definately sure to reaffirm your friendship if you go through this together, and is definately a story to tell afterwards. Also, if you get people to sponsor you, you can give money to charity too, evoking a feeling of smugness in you and helping a good cause too!

5. Go see a band you've never heard of.
You just might discover a new favourite band, or you may marvel at just how awful they are. A bonding experience either way.

6. Explore a nearby town or city.
Avoid the typical touristy spots and you might just find an amazing new favourite restaurant, shop, or place to go. Me and a friend did this, and found the most fantastically british place that served tea and scones to amazingly dressed ladies wearing top to toe pink and pearls.

7. Visit the beach.
Get a tan, build sandcastles, set up a tent or even get out there and try surfing or jump on a boat, and of course, get some fish and chips and visit the amuseument arcades. Bliss!

8. Bake something.
Cupcakes, cakes, buns.. anything. You might just discover an amazing new talent, and from my experience, even simply not burning things is an accomplishment to feel good about!

9. Have a DIY spa day.
Face masks, hair treatments, ice cream and chocolate are the main components I'd say, along with the mandatory manicures and gossiping galore. Even better if you sneak away from the world and take the afternoon work/college etc, everyone needs a break now and then!

10. Go for lunch and people watch.
Order delicious food and drink, sit by the window and make up stories about the people that pass by. That man in the business suit? He's a secret agent with inside knowledge on alien invasions. That tired young mum? She's having a love affair with George Clooney. You get the idea.

What are your favourite things to do with your friends?
Let me know!

Lots of love..

Quote Of The Week.

Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could; some blunders and absurdities crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

Weekly Goals.

photo credit to one pretty thing.

Well, what a week it has been!
Next week looks set to be a little more relaxed, with the exception of essay deadlines.
My goals this week are mainly based around college and work, how enthralling!

1. Hand in all college work on time!

Exciting, I know, but it's neccesary if I want to avoid naggings from tutors and my week off being taken over by essays.

2. Go out to eat with one of my oldest friends.
This shouldn't be a goal, but it's so difficult to achieve. We lead seperate lives these days and everytime we organise something, life gets in the way! This week shall be different though.

3. Write good content filled posts.
Self explanatory really!

4. Drink more water and eat less junk.
Perhaps it was due to how busy I've been this week, but my healthy eating went off track and I've been surviving on delicious but exceedingly unhealthy foods.

5. Get prepared for my job interview.
Yay! This means sorting out my outfit, thinking through what I'm going to say, sorting out directions etc. This job will be mine! Cue evil laughter.. ahem.

So, that doesn't seem too unrealistic and is very attainable in my opinion!
What's everyone else hoping to achieve this week?

Lots of love..

A Little Introduction.

Hello!
Welcome to my little home here in the blogging world!
I've been wanting to create a blog for some time now, and I'm looking forward to a new project and hope you like what you read I suppose!
I'll start with an introduction, I'm Kat, an eighteen year old student with a passion for writing and a penchant for words. I adore reading, coffee shops make me happy, family and friends are quite simply the best (channeling Diana Ross there I think!), I absolutely believe shopping is good my soul and I love a good debate on topics I feel passionately about.

Fierce Frosting will encompass all things wonderful, it will advise, amuse, inform and hopefully make you smile and inspire you in some small way!
Fierce Frosting can mean anything you want it to mean really, to me it's a recipe filled with just the right mix of fierceness and attitude mixed with the deliciousness and downright gorgeousness of frosting, of the cupcake variety, obviously.
I'll be updating regularly on all things inspirational and lovely, along with a bit of student advice and musings as I am a student myself, and of course a bit of fashion and glamour thrown in too.
Lots of love..
